After canceling practice Tuesday to demonstrate against police brutality, the Detroit Lions will be back on the field Wednesday — and they’ll have a couple of their injured running backs with them.
Lions coach Matt Patricia said D’Andre Swift and Bo Scarbrough will return to practice on a limited basis after both missed nearly a week of workouts.

Swift, a second-round pick out of Georgia, suffered a left leg injury Aug. 19 and finished practice that day, but has not taken part in on-field workouts since.
Scarbrough has an extensive injury history dating back to high school and is dealing with an unspecified ailment.
Left guard Joe Dahl, who finished last season on injured reserve because of a back injury, will not practice Wednesday.

The Lions did not practice Tuesday after an extended and emotional morning team meeting that focused on the police shooting of a Wisconsin man, Jacob Blake.
Players filled the parking lot in front of their Allen Park practice facility, demanding an end to police brutality and racial injustice. Duron Harmon, Trey Flowers and Taylor Decker spoke to a group of assembled reporters, as players and coaches surrounded a large dry-erase board that read, “The World Can’t Go On,” on one side, and, “We Won’t Be Silent,” on the other.
“I think we all hope that yesterday sticks with all of us forever and hopefully it makes an impact on someone, somewhere out there and gives people strength and courage and hope,” Patricia said. “I think that’s what’s so powerful about it. Certainly, football, it’s what we do and what we love, but in the end I think we’re also trying to make great influences on each other and affect people for long-term and affect families, and hopefully we did that and that’s something that won’t go away.”
