D’Andre Swift scores first career NFL TD for Lions (Video)

D’Andre Swift is a key member of a loaded Lions backfield in 2020

Swift, who was selected in the second round out of Georgia this past April, will pair with Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson (once healthy) in a crowded Detroit Lions backfield. They’re giving Matthew Stafford all the help he needs in MoTown, and while it remains to be seen if that’ll lead to a playoff appearance, Swift is off to a good start.

Sure, it’s a short score, but someone has to punch it in from that distance. Swift emerged as the clear lead back in Athens last season over the likes of James Cook and Zamir White. He’s just one in a long line of Georgia running backs to find success at the next level. UGA is RBU for a reason.

Can the Lions rebound in 2020?

While the Lions record last season was putrid, it’s important to remember that Matthew Stafford missed the majority of the campaign due to injury. With him in tow and healthy for the first time in awhile, this season will be make or break for Matt Patricia. Both he and GM Bob Quinn are out of excuses, and they possess a roster talented enough to rid any doubt about the direction of the franchise.

Detroit is better than they’ve been in years past, but the franchise has been synonymous with losing for decades. Stafford and Patricia hope to lead Detroit to their first playoff win in ages.
