Dan Campbell doesn’t rule out the craziest explanation for Lions wins on Manningcast

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell did not rule out zaniest reason why his team is winning.

Not since Bobby Layne played quarterback for them have the Detroit Lions been this fricking good.

Layne may have cursed the team back in the day, but Lions head coach Dan Campbell does not believe in curses, man. While appearing on Monday night’s Manningcast, the topic of Peyton Manning and noted Lions fan in actor Jeff Daniels lifting Layne’s curse at Ford Field was brought up. While Peyton and Harry took care of it, Campbell believes the franchise totally redeemed itself.

“I don’t believe in that stuff, but we did start winning,” said Campbell while on the Manningcast.

Detroit Lions are about to be a total wagon under fricking Dan Campbell, man!

Not since the 1950s, or when Barry Sanders was in his prime, has it been this great to be a Lions fan. The partnership between Campbell at head coach and Brad Holmes as general manager has transformed this perennial NFC bottom-feeder into one of the most fun and exciting watches across the NFL. Detroit is playing a compelling brand of football that is as tough as it is innovate.

With Manning and Daniels putting a bunch of whiskey into a bath tub, the curse has definitely been lifted. Despite being the best non-playoff team in football last year, it would not be the least bit shocking to see the Lions do something they have not done in over a generation: Host a home playoff game. With a few lucky Minnesota Vikings breaks, the Lions could sit atop the NFC North.

Overall, the formerly directionless Lions have a strong identity. Campbell has been at the epicenter of that. Detroit had long been a place where careers went to die. Now, it is a place where hard work and determination pays off. The Lions may be a year away from being a serious contender in the NFC, but their upward trajectory is simply undeniable at this point. We are all rooting for them.

Nothing would bring the NFL to its knees faster than Campbell’s Lions winning a Super Bowl, man!
