Lions 2021 schedule release offers path to redemption

SideLion Report

The Detroit Lions are heading in an exciting new direction in 2021. That after three years of disappointment with ex-general manager Bob Quinn and ex-head coach Matt Patricia at the helm of a team cemented in the basement of the NFC North division.

But it’s a new era for the Pride. With Brad Holmes as general manager and Dan Campbell as head coach, the vibe around Allen Park has changed. And with a new quarterback under center and a roster full of fresh draft picks, the excitement for the new-look Lions is ramping up.

Despite the team admittedly being at the forefront of a rebuild that will take more than one offseason to fix, there’s still hope Detroit can begin showing signs of improvement. And the 2021 NFL regular season schedule release for the Lions on Wednesday night offers the team and their fans a first look at a possible path to redemption … and, hopefully, a brighter future ahead.

Here’s the Lions’ regular-season schedule for 2021 according to NFL.com …

Week 1: San Francisco 49ers
Week 2: @ Green Bay Packers (Monday Night)
Week 3: Baltimore Ravens
Week 4: @ Chicago Bears
Week 5: @ Minnesota Vikings
Week 6: Cincinnati Bengals
Week 7: @ Los Angeles Rams
Week 8: Philadelphia Eagles
Week 9: Bye Week
Week 10: @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Week 11: @ Cleveland Browns
Week 12: Chicago Bears (Thanksgiving Day)
Week 13: Minnesota Vikings
Week 14: @ Denver Broncos
Week 15: Arizona Cardinals
Week 16: @ Atlanta Falcons
Week 17: @ Seattle Seahawks
Week 18: Green Bay Packers

The Lions will kick off their 2021 regular season at home in Ford Field playing against a Niners’ team who could potentially have a rookie quarterback under center in Trey Lance. Although Jimmy Garoppolo may have something to say about that.

Three of the Lions’ first five games will come against divisional rivals and all of them will be on the road. Detroit will play away games against the Packers in Week Two (on Monday Night Football), the Bears in Week Four, and the Vikings in Week Five.

Circle Week Seven on your calendars as the Detroit Lions will travel to sunny California to face off against the Los Angeles Rams and their former quarterback, Matthew Stafford. And Detroit will end their season facing two very tough opponents in the Seattle Seahawks on the road and the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field.
