The Detroit Lions will have a new kicker for the holidays.

The Lions placed kicker Austin Seibert on injured reserve Saturday, leaving Ryan Santoso to handle kicking duties at least through Thanksgiving.

Seibert did not practice Friday because of a hip injury that limited him earlier in the week. The Lions elevated Santoso from the practice squad to the 53-man roster for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Santoso, who had stints with the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans earlier this year, made his only field goal attempt for the Lions this fall, from 35 yards out to give the Lions a late lead in a September loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens rallied to win in the final minute, on Justin Tucker’s record-setting kick.

Seibert, who missed the Ravens game with COVID-19, is 10-for-12 on field goals this season.
