Well, Detroit is kind of in the Super Bowl. With Matthew Stafford at the helm for the Los Angeles Rams, at least Lions fans can root for their former golden boy to win his first championship. But if you aren’t looking to hop on the Los Angeles bandwagon, luckily there’s tons of other things to look at as the best bets for Super Bowl 56.

The Rams have an excellent offense but Sean McVay has conservative tendencies on 4th downs, meaning they’ll have plenty of opportunities for long field goals against a Bengals defense that has shown an ability to make adjustments and force offenses to settle for three points.
On the other side of things, Bengals’ kicker Evan McPherson has hit at least one 35+ yard field goal in 16 of 19 games, including in 10 straight. With Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins in the fold, the Bengals should be able to move the ball. But against the Rams’ ferocious pass rush, I can see a few 3rd-down sacks in the red zone leading to Bengals field goals.
Give me the lovely +150 odds on both teams to kick 35+ yard field goals in one of my favorite bets of the Super Bowl.
Bet Odell Beckham Jr. to Score The First Rams Touchdown (+600 odds)
He’s scored six touchdowns in the 11 games since Los Angeles acquired him and has become a go-to target for Matthew Stafford with 19 targets in their last two games.
Odell hasn’t scored since the Wild Card round, but Stafford has targeted OBJ on a healthy 23% of his postseason pass attempts. Another score should be coming.
I’m taking Odell to score the first Rams touchdown at +600. Ordinarily, I would say we should take him to score the first touchdown period, but at +750 those odds aren’t much better than if we avoid any Bengals touchdown possibilities altogether. As a result, I’m sticking with the Rams-specific bet.
Bet Joe Burrow Passing Attempts Over 36.5 (-110 odds)
Keeping the ball in the hands of your best player works well in the NFL. Who knew?
We’ve seen the Bengals rely more on Joe Burrow lately as their run game has faltered and they’ve needed him to make magic happen to move the ball.
The Rams ranked 5th in rushing yards allowed per game (95.8) and should force the Bengals into throwing to keep up the pace. As underdogs, there’s also a decent chance that the Bengals are forced to get even more pass-happy to try to come from behind in the second half.
Burrow has hit this number in four of his last five games and I’d be stunned if Zac Taylor took the ball away from his star with the Super Bowl on the line.
